ASSICON 2018 (The 31st Annual Conference of the Association of Spine Surgeons of India) to be held in Chennai on the 19th-21st of January, 2018. The venue is the ITC Grand Chola, Chennai.

Annual conference of invasive spine surgery of India the MISSICON 2017 meeting is the only major meeting in INDIA focused entirely on Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery.

As a part of prestigious Salem Marathon - 2017, SKS Hospital, Spine Surgery department organised a "Scoli Run". Patients who underwent spinal deformity correction surgery participated in the event and successfully completed the run of 5 KM. This event was organised to create on awareness regarding Spinal deformities and safety of Spine Surgery.

Spinal deformity correction surgery is a higher end surgery which needs highly equipped operation theatre , experienced anasthetists, state of art patient monitoring during surgery and well equipped ICU for post op care. For the first time in this part of state we at SKS hospital has brought the state of art facilities for spinal deformity correction surgery. We started doing spinal deformity correction surgery in the year 2015 and a press meet was organised to bring out the successful spinal deformity surgeries done at our centre in the last 2 years.

Patients who were benified from the Surgeries shared their experiences with the press reporters. Reporters from over 30 news organisation participated in the event. As a part of the function Spine Surgery department activity report was released by Mrs.Sree Vasantha, Chairman of SKS Hospitals and received by Dr.Suresh Viswanathan, Managing Director of SKS Hospitals.

As a part of TNOACON-2015 Salem spine workshop on pedicle screw fixation in lumbarspine and interbody fusion techniques was conducted .More than 40 delegates attended and sawbone model was provided for hands on training.

For the first time in our region hands on work shop on Spine decompression and discectomy procedures was conducted using calf spine model . 75 delegates participated including the post graduate students.
